What makes this special...

No effort has been spared here and this small place packs a luxury punch that most little places don’t.

We love the quiet in the morning, taking in a cup of tea on the patio whilst listening to (slightly batty) Radio Solent and enjoying the peace of the forest in this superb location.

What we love

The coastal walking is excellent. Pictured is the trail from Milford on Sea beach.

Whilst you’re there, stop for fish and chips eaten on the beach and maybe a cheeky drink at the  “Cave”.  Alternatively, get out and visit Chewton Glen for the ultimate in luxury with spa treatments, an afternoon tea or a cookout session @theKitchen with James Martin.

theLocation...

Lymington is often in The Times ‘Top 10 places to live in the UK’.  Obviously we are totally biased and agree. It is marvellous. The quality of life here is very good. The town is surrounded by National Park to the north, coastal otherwise. There is a good mix of industry (boats) and retail. Less obvious is the connection to the rural workings of the National Park itself.

The community here is very diverse in it’s interests and the town really does make sure that everyone is catered to…it is always busy with something going on from the Saturday market to St Barbe Museum, with multiple play parks and of course cafe and restaurants galore. And if you manage to get through all that, then you could always jump on the ferry to the Isle of Wight – just a short 30 minute journey across the Solent.

top picksTo do whilst you're here...

  • Hurst Castle
    Hurst Castle

Jump on the ferry or take a brisk stroll on the 1.5 mile long shingle spit to the famous Hurst Castle where a £1 million renovation is currently taking place to keep it ship shape.

This place is just the best for hide and seek. The view from the top is superb to the Isle of Wight. Anyone who likes history will love it here. Charles I was imprisoned here. The cafe is excellent. Read our blog for more info on Jason Crane, 3rd generation born here at Hurst. There is a small entry fee. Boat trips are about a fiver for a return trip.

For holiday events for kids of all ages so check out their website at www.hurstcastle.co.uk

  • Exbury Gardens & Steam Railway
    Exbury Gardens & Steam Railway

A spectacular 200 acre site that you can wander around or take a ride on the 12 1/4 inch gauge Steam Railway – a favourite for all ages!

Dogs are welcome. Good parking. Mostly level tracks on good gravel or tarmac. You can hire mobility vehicles here too.

Make sure you stop for tea and cake in Mr Eddy’s Tea rooms and check for the seasonal events on their website.

  • Lymington Saturday Markets
    Lymington Saturday Markets

Lymington has a thriving and very popular Saturday market. Over 90 stall holders congregate and the road is closed for most of the day.

It takes up almost the entire high street, is very busy and popular with locals. Stall holders include local artists, crafts people, furniture, plants,  but best of all, it’s foodie heaven – cakes, cheeses, breads, deli bits and bobs, meat, pies, drinks.
