Honey tasting and a visit to the Noble Bee HQ at Furzedown Farm.

With Simon Noble, founder of the Noble Bee.  1.5 hours – £75 for the house.  Available throughout the year.  Suitable for all ages.

If you are staying at Furzedown House, Simon Noble; founder of The Noble Bee, will come across the farmyard and visit you. At a pre-arranged time, he’ll run a honey tasting session and workshop. You will taste the award winning honey produced by Simon and his bees, as well as a selection of interesting honeys and from around the world. You will gain an insight into the world of honey, learning about the different types, why each honey tastes so different and which flowers contribute to the unique taste of each jar. 

 You will also chat about what you can do to help bees and other pollinators.

After the tasting, you will visit The Noble Bee HQ, which sits next door at Furzedown Farm, where Simon will give you an overview of the workings of honey production.  You will also visit the shop where he sells a variety of Noble Bee honeys, beautifully scented candles among other bee related goodies!

A visit to Furzedown Farm Conservation area with a talk on bees with tea and cake!

With Simon Noble, founder of The Noble Bee. 2 hours – £150 for the house available from early May through to the end of Summer (this experience is weather dependent and may have to be rescheduled to another day convenient to you if it’s raining!)

Simon will meet you at the front door, and take you into the private 25 acre Furzedown Farm Conservation Area. You will learn about what actually goes on inside a beehive, how a colony of bees behaves over a season, the different castes of bee in a hive and swarming behaviour.  You’ll get to watch a live beehive inspection and see with your own eyes, what’s going on inside the beehive with your own eyes, and you might even get to meet the other ‘Queen of England’.

 Simon will also chat about why bees are so important for the environment and what you personally can do to help bees and other pollinators.

 Down by the beautiful nature pond in the middle of the woodland, you will enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake.
