What we love...

Characterful, cosy and full of personality, Forest View is a dog-friendly holiday cottage in the New Forest that feels like a true home away from home, whether you're here to explore or simply switch off.

Ponies outside, donkey walking and goat agility experiences nearby. You're not visiting the forest at Forest View. You're living in it.

Pull on your boots, and you are straight into the forest. Brockenhurst's cafes, pubs and village stores are just a stroll away.

Sitting on the edge of the open forest at South Weirs, Forest View is a beautifully characterful semi-detached cottage that feels like a true home away from home. Ponies, donkeys and cows wander right past the garden gate, the trees stretch out beyond the conservatory, and the forest is yours the moment you pull on your boots. Comfortable for six across three bedrooms, this is a retreat for all seasons – whether you’re here to explore, to switch off completely, or simply to breathe.

Warm, welcoming and full of personality, Forest View is a holiday cottage in Brockenhurst that combines cosy cottage charm with everything you need for an easy, sociable stay. The heart of the house is a generous kitchen that flows through to a light-filled conservatory with garden and forest views – the kind of spot you’ll find yourself returning to again and again. And with the cafés, pubs and village stores of Brockenhurst just a 15-20 minute stroll away, everything you need is close at hand, even if it won’t feel like it.

Forest View Style

Forest View is a beautifully characterful cottage with a warm, unhurried atmosphere that wraps around you from the moment you arrive. This is a house with real soul – comfortable and charming, with a lived-in quality that makes it feel genuinely like someone’s much-loved home.

The heart of the cottage is a generous, welcoming kitchen that flows naturally through to a cosy, light-filled conservatory. Garden views stretch out to open fields beyond – it’s the kind of spot you’ll find yourself drawn back to throughout the day. Morning coffee with birdsong. Lazy lunches watching the ponies drift past. A glass of something cold as the evening light fades over the forest.

A log-burning woodburner makes even a rainy New Forest afternoon feel like exactly the right place to be, and three lovely bedrooms upstairs offer peaceful sanctuary after a day on the trails, with forest views across South Weirs to wake up to each morning.

Inside

The entrance to Forest View brings you in through the conservatory - a lovely introduction to the house, light and bright with garden and forest views stretching out before you've even taken your coat off. It sets the tone perfectly, and for most guests it becomes the true heart of the stay. Morning coffee here is a ritual you'll find hard to give up.

From the conservatory, the generous kitchen draws you in with its sociable, easy atmosphere. Well-equipped with everything you need to rustle up everything from morning pancakes to relaxed suppers, there's a proper dining space for sitting down together - though with Brockenhurst's pubs and bistros just a stroll away, you may find yourself tempted to head out more than you'd planned.

Beyond the kitchen, the sitting room is the kind of space that immediately invites you to slow down and settle in. A log-burning woodburner takes centre stage - perfect for cosy autumn and winter evenings - while comfortable sofas, layered textures and a characterful cottage feel make this a lovely spot to gather after a day in the forest.

A downstairs shower room makes life easy after muddy walks and forest adventures.

Across the first floor are three comfortable bedrooms, all with that peaceful, away-from-it-all feel - and forest views across South Weirs that stop you in your tracks on your first morning and every morning after.

The master king bedroom is a calm, restful retreat with plenty of wardrobe storage. A second double bedroom is ideal for another couple or older guests, while the third bedroom offers flexible sleeping arrangements as either a twin or a super king, making it perfect for friends, siblings or younger guests.

A family bathroom with bathtub serves the upper floor - ideal for long soaks after days on the trails. There's a state of the art Grohe shower above with rainfall shower head and massage attachment.

Home truths

The internet speed at Forest View is generally around 10–12 Mbps - perfectly fine for everyday browsing, streaming and email. If you're planning to work remotely with heavier demands such as video calls or large file transfers, it's worth bearing this in mind and having a backup plan in place.

The yard at the property is reserved solely for parking and is not available as a general outdoor space. We'd ask guests to respect this and kindly ensure children do not play in the yard area.

Dogs are very much part of the family here and are warmly welcomed. To keep the cottage lovely for everyone, we ask that pets must not go in the upstairs areas of the house and off soft furnishings. There will be a stair gate at the bottom of the stairs.

There is an extra charge for logs and kindling to burn on the fire (October- March) but feel free to BYO!

The annex and outside storage areas will not be accessible to guests.

The garden gate must be closed at all times to keep out the free roaming animals.

South Weirs is beautifully peaceful, but do be aware that the roaming forest animals - ponies, donkeys and cows - are wild and should not be fed or approached too closely. Enjoy them from a respectful distance!

Location, location, location...

You couldn't ask for a better base in the New Forest than Forest View. Step outside and you're immediately in open forest - the trails, the trees and the roaming animals are right there, no driving required. Step in the other direction and the lovely village of Brockenhurst is just a stroll away.

Head to The Bakehouse for your morning pastries - multi-award-winning and famous for its doughnuts and Belgian buns. Pop along to the Village Butcher and Village Veg on Brookley Road to stock up for the days ahead, and keep your eyes peeled for the ponies and donkeys that wander the high street as if they own the place. Just along the way, sign up for a session with Little Goats at Brockenhurst - an unexpected delight and a firm favourite with guests of all ages. Don't miss the donkey walking experience nearby, either.

Hire a bike from Cycleexperience and take in the surroundings on two wheels, tee off at the picturesque Brockenhurst Manor Golf Club, or treat yourselves to a spa day or a very special supper at The Pig hotel.

With a mainline station right in Brockenhurst, you're beautifully poised for pony-spotting adventures further into the forest, or a day trip to London in under two hours. Services also run to Bournemouth, Southampton and Winchester. We'd very much suggest leaving the car at home.

The most beautiful location! The New Forest is quite literally on your door step and It was incredible to watch the ponies walking past. Walking into the village was super easy, just a 15-20 minute stroll away. Highly recommend the bakehouse - the doughnuts are delicious!
