Showcasing a 'nod' to Nordic style, downstairs is home to a cosy open-plan, dining-sitting room area. With ample room for 6 at the table, Nutshell Cottage's smart little kitchen has all you need to whip up breakfast, lunch or supper. The simple & effective layout is perfectly set-up for holidaying; so that everyone can chat and mix by-day, or retreat to their gorgeous bedroom by-night.
The colours are similar in the whole house; all are easy on the eye and nothing jars. Oatmeal, basketry, linen, hessian, cream floorboards, vintage tiles, silver metallics... and acres of mirrors to flood the light in every room.
The owner clearly loves the bones of this cottage, and has kept them integral to the finished style here. Throughout the house there is plenty of exposed original brick work, various repurposed Victorian radiators, or really swanky modern ones. We love the mix of old & new here, it flows smoothly through & the production is sleek, so that you can relax in style.
The bedroom on the second floor has the original chimney brickwork exposed, and the caulbing (tiered brickwork) is a gorgeous feature. With its low- set (to the floor) super king bed, and large wall mirror, this calm space is perfect for sinking into after a busy day exploring. Talking of old & new- we love the two original balsa hat boxes, and their stirrup leather handles, that form the the bedside tables here!
With great storage, the twin room itself is small, and the beds are very close together- making it better suited for children or a single guest. The pictures on our website show the room clearly- so please do have a close look to see if its right for you.
The master bedroom at the front of the cottage has a lovely super king bed to recharge & as the owner is a lighting genius, you'll bathe in the relaxing hue. The small (but perfectly formed!) en-suite includes a bath with shower above, and we particularly love the little corner shelf finishes & the vintage floor tiles in this section!
We were really impressed with the two bathrooms in this house. Not just the creativity of utilising the space in this house, but the lighting and feel of them in general.
Do check out the 3D Virtual Tour of Nutshell Cottage, as it will allow you to get a reel feel for the place before you stay. Enjoy!
