Picture-perfect & postcard-worthy, our fabulous artsy hideaway in Exbury offers pastures new for friends & family to gather together!

Ticking both coast & country boxes, the far-reaching views here skim over fields of grazing cattle & ponies, and across Beaulieu River to the sprawling Solent & Isle of Wight…

Whilst the ever-changing backdrop is sure to still your heart, Moo Cottage’s vibrant interior is also a real treat for the eyes- offering a totally unique experience! Adorned by original artworks from the esteemed Palais Des Vaches Gallery (pop nearly-next door to visit, or to take a piece back home); the luxe décor throughout the main house, and its self-contained annexe, is more exhibitionist than the timeless surroundings; creating a truly unique space to call home.

Whilst pops of colour, swathes of texture, and non-conformist palettes create an invigorating and welcoming ambience, we also love how boundaries blur between in and out… sleep with the windows open, breakfast by birdsong, and supper under the stars.

To further immerse yourself in the landscape, wander to the shoreline with a picnic in-hand, plan a day out at the esteemed Exbury Gardens nearby (also owned by your lovely host, Nicholas David de Rothschild), or nip into Lymington’s bustling Saturday market… just glorious!

Pssst – everyone will enjoy the suite life at Moo, as each bedroom boasts its own bathroom.

Inside

Showcasing a stunning curation of original paintings and prints, our New Forest cottage certainly has art and soul… Alongside every wall being festooned in showstopping creations throughout, we also love how Moo’s easy-breezy open-plan living & dining space encourages an organic way of life.

With the main cottage, and a self-contained annexe to call home, no matter which room you find yourself relaxing in, your far-flung surroundings are made to be the main event:

In the main house…

The sleek & chic galley kitchen ensures food prep comes with large side of landscape (as does the built in utility area), whilst the sliding doors make dining a moveable feast… sip & supper inside, or out, as you please!

When the temperature drops, and night falls, the cosy living room nook provides just the spot to snuggle in. Ochre hues, strokable sofas, and leopard-spotted entice you to ‘safari’ by the fire.

Everyone gets a king bed here, and whilst those in the ground floor bedroom will also love the spacious & sparkly shower en-suite (and ease of access), upstairs, the sprawling master suite boasts a host of show-stopping features... The gorgeous decor, HUGE bathroom (cue the couples tub of dreams), bonus workstation, pamper area, and wrap-around balcony all make things feel rather special to say the least.

Over in the annexe…

You’ll have everything you need to be completely self-sufficient, with a kitchenette that’s on-hand for morning coffees & midnight feasts, and a perfectly pristine shower room. In the main living-come-sleeping space, the sinkable sofas, continuation of artworks, and seasoned-chic style gives us weekend breaks at Martha's Vineyard vibes. We also love how the sliding doors let you flow our onto your own alfresco table & chairs.

The cottage & annexe both open up onto the terraced area, where tables & chairs beckon for alfresco sips and snacks. Whilst you’re sure to eat out here together, we also love how the lawn is plenty big enough to take a stroll around with a coffee in-hand for quieter moments.

Home truths

The surrounding farm is a working one, so there is always a welcoming & buzzy feel with the ever-changing scenery. As the farmer's dogs, cats, and guinea fowl, are all enjoying free range fun too, please keep the gates closed at all times to keep surrounding livestock happy and safe. There is also one rather lovely rescue cat who likes to call Moo home, so she may try and join your guest list!

To ensure Mother Nature prevails, your lovely hosts have asked that enjoy looking at the flowers and leave them in-situ.

Your home-from home is semi-detached, so please do keep noise levels to a neighbour-friendly level. There are security cameras outside, but these are purely for security so you still have complete privacy.

One complimentary basket of logs will be provided for your stay (Nov - March). Feel free to bring your own for any extra.

Location, location, location...

Beaulieu village is just over 5 miles away. Here you'll find a small High Street to potter along for a gentle afternoon stroll (Monty's is great for a glass of something if you get thirsty).

Walk from Beaulieu to Bucklers Hard through the nature reserve where you'll soak up fantastic wildlife & riverside views. The ancient boat building village of Bucklers Hard was once home to Nelson's Navy fleet, and remains a safe port for many New Forest sailors to this day. Step back in time with a trip to the Bucklers Hard Maritime Museum, before grabbing a bite at The Master Builder's Hotel... it is utterly charming here!

For adventures further afield, Lymington is just under 11 miles away, and the Saturday Market is full of fresh food and goodies.

We had an early family Christmas in this delightful cottage and couldn’t have chosen a better location for it.

We were a family group of six adults and a 7 week old baby, plus 2 dogs, celebrating a special birthday away for a long weekend (3nights). Moo Cottage was perfect for us! Baby and his parents had the roomy annexe to themselves which meant they weren’t worried about him crying at night, and everyone else got a great nights sleep! The decor throughout the main house and annexe was gorgeous, everything was extremely comfortable, there was a well equipped kitchen and a super secure garden for the dogs to play in. Fabulous quiet location and views.

Jackie Williams November 2025

5 stars. We had a lovely short weekend at Moo Cottage. The colourful artwork and furniture were an inspiration, and the cottage had everything we needed – more than most places we've stayed, such as a coffee press, colander, decent knives, big pots, scissors, a wine bottle opener, and a washing machine. The garden was perfect for our two German Shepherds; it was secure and very peaceful. As they played, the gorgeous cows across the road ran up and down their field, as if they wanted to join in the game. When the art gallery was open on the weekend, there were a few more cars driving past slowly, but it was minimal. The views... where do I start? We both stood at the windows, gazing over the pastures with grazing horses and cows, a multitude of birds, and the sailboats slowly gliding out to the Solent, with the hills of the Isle of Wight rising in the distance. We enjoyed the sunshine outside with plenty of options for seating, and when it got chillier, we curled up in the large chairs by the stove, which were cozy and warm. Listening to and watching the rain fall through the large windows was soporific. It was the perfect escape to celebrate our wedding anniversary! I wish we could have stayed longer.

Great accommodation - very clean - lovely surroundings and in easy reach of many places. Art work is impressive. On the down side a few things, missing tea towel and not enough dishwasher tabs... But, we would definitely give the cottage a 5 star rating!

We three have been working on the refinery for 3 weeks and it has been delightful to come back here after a long shift. The house is fantastic! We will definitely book again next year.

Really nice place. My colleagues and I were working on the nearby refinery and found this place to be a slice of heaven after a long shift.

Richard October 2024

What a fabulous home and even better location! The perfect spot to explore the New Forest. I love to open plan flow downstairs & the master bedroom balcony offers incredible views of the Beaulieu River.
