What makes this place special...

Highlights staying at this house and in the local area...

All the essential details.

Here's your full run down of this place, inside and out...

Inside

Whilst the sweeping staircase will undoubtedly steal your attention upon entering Hazelhurst (wow!), we implore you to resist a "Gone with the Wind" moment just a little while longer...

Starting in the HUGE 'family room', you'll find the kitchen, dining & sitting room spaces here blend seamlessly, with enough space for everyone to eat,* drink & spend time together. The pink, green & natural palette is the stuff of interior designers’ dreams, whilst the floor-to-ceiling windows and French doors connect you to your tree-filled surroundings with utter perfection.
*We’ll take our morning coffee & our nightcap on the window seat, please.

The light-filled windows/doors continue into the drawing room where there's an air of more ‘grown-up goings-on’ (the piano can be used upon request), whilst the snug next door is just the spot for movies, games & popcorn nights.

With a utility room, boot room and playroom (foosball & fancy dress await) left to explore, we haven't even revealed the outside yet!!

The 3 children's rooms here bring a touch of Enid Blighton charm that all ages will love, and there's a whopping bedroom for those seeking space & solace. Whilst both the sleek shower room & roomy family bathroom scrub up beautifully, the master suite is where we'd lay our hats with ‘that’ tub and view… Soaking with a glass of something as the sun sets & the garden lights up = utterly spoilt!

Up in the eaves, you'll find a further two rooms & bathroom – one with a fab view of Sway Tower (a locally loved landmark), and one with a desk for anyone needing to work during their stay.

Expect fun finishing touches, plump pillows, squishy sofas, and natural textures in every room... This is the embodiment of laidback luxe. This is country living done to perfection!

Outside

Through the French doors and onto the outside dining area, you’ll find a large table that is perfect for alfresco feasting - and what a scene to soak up as you breakfast, lunch or supper overlooking the garden... just the place to gather together & toast your VIP escape!

We love how there is a gentle and subtle divide between the upper and a lower level of grassy plains here where little ones & four-legged ones will love running amuck. Along the bottom of the garden you’ll find tall trees and a flowing stream to explore (perfect teddy bears picnic territory!) whilst the upper lawn calls for lawn games.

For the grown-ups, you'll be spoilt for choice with where to soak up the sun & relax amongst the four sets of tables & seating areas nestled throughout the grounds - we'd earmark the plump, rattan sofa for catnaps & sunset sips. There are some lovely places to eat out in Lymington, but we highly recommend stocking up on fresh supplies in the nearby village of Sway (award-winning butcher alert!) and feasting back home... Will you BBQ in the Big Green Egg, or create something delish in the pizza oven first?

Under the willow tree, the deer statue pays homage to the ‘guests’ who roam freely through Hazelhurst's garden (it is quite something to be taking your morning coffee as these tranquil animals graze amongst the greenery, and you are sure to spot a few roes during your stay), and the swing makes everything feel rather romantic and lovely. What can we say - this is perfection!

Hazelhurst does not currently have EV charging facilities, or access to charge your car from the mains.

Home truths

The original staircase is a showstopper, but please take extra care with the handrails as the spindles are not completely secure.

There is a small (and shallow) stream in the 'secret garden' so recommend you keep an eye on young ones in your party.

Complimentary logs will be provided for your stay (Nov - March). Feel free to bring your own for any extra.

Accessibility

All bedrooms are located on the first and second floor. There are two sets of stairs that can be used to access the first floor, with a steeper set to get to the top floor bedrooms & bathroom.

Included in your booking cost are: all bedding and linen, towels for the house, kitchen essentials, any baby kit you've requested and cleaning the house after you leave. Enjoy!

Location, location, location...

You’re only a 5 minute drive from Sway’s sweet village centre (stock up on supplies or wander into the woodlands) and 10 minutes from Lymington’s bustling High Street Quay (fab for boat watching & treasure hunting at the Saturday market). Brockenhurst village is also worth a visit with its wandering ponies & donkeys, and is also only 10 minute drive away.

Our favourite beach at Milford is just under 4 miles away and is well worth a visit for salty days or meals out (it’s known as the foodie village and has a great buzz), but for things a little closer to home, we’d recommend biking to The Mill with it’s sunny beer garden & lovely menu as an inventive! There's also a Polo Club behind the house if you fancied trying something new out too!

A lovely cottage, with a large kitchen and dining area. The house is spacious and comfortable with different sitting rooms where guests can sit together or use for time on their own. Good location. Beautiful views of the garden which is well kept with good outdoor seating areas. Some of the bathrooms have baths with handheld showers.

Rosenblatt & Vertes Families December 2025

We stayed here as a large family group of three generations. Everyone was enchanted by the character of the house, with all the quirky art, the fantastic main staircase and so much space. There are so many living rooms on the ground floor that it was easy for different groups to find their own quiet space when wanted. The kitchen/dining area was perfect for large sociable meals, and was very well equipped. The bedrooms were spacious and beds extremely comfortable, so much so I had to check out the brand of mattresses! The children enjoyed the playroom and the outside space, and the grownups enjoyed relaxing on the outdoor furniture and playing pétanque on the path below in the evenings. It was so quiet and peaceful there, and a joy to watch the deer wandering around the garden in the early mornings and in the evenings. There were a couple of small issues that came up during our stay, but a call to the property managers meant they were dealt with and resolved swiftly. There’s so much to see and do in the surrounding area, that we only scratched the surface. It was a privilege to be able to stay in such a beautiful house, and we all came away with some very happy memories. Thank you!

This is the New Forest holiday home that dreams are made of- both the indoor & the outdoor space here are jaw-droppingly beautiful. Amongst the mix of old fashioned & modern art, and the playful colour schemes (I will be repainting my home pink & green!), I absolutely love how the finishing touches make you feel like this country manor house doesn't take itself too seriously. The children will remember the garden for years to come with so much space to roan and run free amongst.
