The Little Gate House

This was a great base to explore lovely Milford on Sea and all the nearby areas. Some nice treats upon our arrival. Lovely hosts.

We have just come back from The Little Gate House in Milford on Sea where we stayed for 4 nights. It was fabulous, the photos do not do it justice. It had everything that we needed for our stay and thank you for the added little treats they were enjoyed. The town, restaurants and beach were all within easy walking distance and the dogs loved the beach. It was very peaceful and we had a lovely relaxing and restful stay. Thank you.

Stunning little property. Only stayed a couple of nights in glorious weather. Lovely courtyard and an incredibly well furnished property. Very comfortable, only slight quibbles would be the stove top kettle and the toilet flush (a little style over substance). But thoroughly enjoyable and would recommend.

Excellent location, close to beach. Hottest weekend of the year. Comfy and clean accommodation with all equipment you need. Ideal for dog owners. Helpful owners on hand if you need help.

Great place to stay to explore the local area. A lovely little place to stay to explore the New Forest and surrounding area. Milford on Sea is a lovely little town with great restaurants and wonderful walks along the coast even if it was rather windy. Accommodation was clean well equipped and had everything we needed to make our stay great.

A wonderful break. The Little Gate House is of the very highest standard in all areas. The style and decor are stunning. It is very well equipped. It’s is in a quiet location with a short walk to the beach. I strongly recommend The Little Gate House for the perfect break.

5 stars. We were super happy with our stay. The place was very cosy and well finished. The wood burner was lovely touch and easy to use. Short walk into town which has some great choices to eat, and a great base to explore the coastal/new forest walks. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Everything at the accommodation was fantastic. My only criticism is if it’s going to be advertised as baby/ child friendly which it was I would recommend a fire guard around the fire.

A wonderful hideaway. We absolutely loved our stay at the LGH. The property was more spacious than we expected, it was full of wonderful little details and the furnishings were of a really high standard. A few ‘housekeeping’ things to mention that might help others: there are a variety of routes that you can explore to get into the village, so make sure to try them out; we stayed in January and lit the log burner (it was reassuringly easy) but we had to turn the heating off as a result! Oh, and there’s a definite knack to flushing the traditional cistern. There’s not kettle as such, it’s one that you use on the hob and it doesn’t whistle so keep an ear out for the bubbling. Overall, it’s a superb place to stay in a super place. Try it. You’ll love it.

We stayed for 2 days with our dog Millie to enjoy the coast for the last few days of autumn sunshine. This is a lovely place to stay - beautiful but also wonderfully comfortable and cleverly designed so that everything you could possibly need is to hand. The bed was extremely comfortable, the wood burner made everything very cosy and we felt at home immediately. Looking forward to a return visit!

Great place to stay. Location is a short walk to the beach and village, however taxi’s are available if you didn’t want to walk. Several good eateries in the village as well as The Smugglers Inn pub which also serves good food. Accommodation is designed to a very high standard. It’s beautiful, quirky, has everything you need.

Small space, designed by someone who knows good design. Everything perfect, including its own outdoor space and own parking. All you could want within a short walk, great location. Local transport along the coast. Short drive into the new forest.

We needed somewhere in the new forest for the weekend and stumbled across this place, which looked lovely on the photos and was even more fantastic in person. Very clean space and amazing layout, would highly recommend anyone who needs somewhere to stay in and around the area to check this place out. Bed was extremely comfy, and the living space/kitchen really had a home feeling to it!

As the name suggests, perfect Bolthole! Great set up, super easy access to the premises, beaches and local amenities. Beautifully appointed with some lovely nods to the surrounding area. Perfect set up to just rock up and move in. Great base for exploring the coastline and bouncing out to the New Forest too.

My wife, our dog, and I had a great stay at The Little Gate House. The Little Gate House was beautifully furnished, with a cosy living area where we could relax. It was an ideal base to explore the New Forest, and surrounding coastline.

This was our second visit and we know why we returned, it’s simply a fabulous place to get some R&R. Fantastic use of space, lovely peaceful location and there’s lots to do all within walking distance. We absolutely love this place.

I'm not usually one for writing reviews, but I felt compelled on this occasion. I'm guessing many people have had experiences like mine, where the place they've booked isn't quite as it seems or next to impossible to find in an unfamiliar area - well, not here. It's a charming little house in a charming part of the world, jam-packed with character and a sense of calm. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Recommend lovely riverside walk from her to the village (beware path that ends up in a private garden!). Time on beaches and Mudeford and views from Hurst Castle. And the lovely bakery.

It was a lovely place and while comfortable... The only thing was the toilet did not flush properly.. we had to use a jug to flush the toilet.... I have stayed in lots of places in the UK.... And the property was 10 out of 10.... This is not a complaint.... The style of the toilet I understand... But it did not do it's function.... Overall fantastic Christmas break..... Kind regards.

Lovely little bolthole, ideally situated to explore the New Forest. Had everything we needed, but egg cups would have been good.

We took suggestions from this book and had a good meal at The Smugglers and several good wine stops at The Cave, both very welcoming to dogs. We also took a recommendation to walk the cliff path to Barton on Sea, where you can refuel at The Beechcomber cafe - lovely views of the coast and Isle of Wight.

Thank you for a lovely stay - despite the dreary weather. Verveine for a memorable lunch and a very blowy walk along the spit will be lovely memories.

Couple of great days away by the sea, lovely place to stay!

We had the most fantastic stay at The Little Gate House this weekend - such a gorgeous, truly magical place and we just loved the area. A huge thanks to Harri for the local recommendations and suggestions for dog friendly places. We enjoyed our walks and had a delicious meal at the Lighthouse restaurant on Sunday evening and brunch at The Cliffhanger on Monday morning. Thank you once again.

We spent a lovely 4 days at The Gate House, the accommodation is beautifully decorated and has everything you could possibly need. There is a small outside seating area, perfect for a romantic drink for two! A well equipped kitchen and luxurious rain hood shower. Do not hesitate to book this wonderful property while you can. We had a wonderful time here, recommended!

Absolutely wonderful stay at the Little Gate House. Milford on Sea is an idyllic village and the Gate House was the perfect location to explore all of the coastal pathways. The property has been lovingly decorated and the hosts were wonderful. Even though it is 'attached' to the main property once in you did not notice. We especially appreciate all of the little touches from the welcome hamper to the delightful fluffy towels. We will most definitely be returning.

Just had such a lovely weekend away with New Forest Escapes, staying at The Little Gate House. They were so helpful with all my enquiries and made the stay an absolute breeze. The interiors at The Little Gate House were amazing and being able to walk into Milford on Sea for drinks and food was so easy- thanks to the recommendations provided. Will definitely be booking my next stay in the area through these guys!

We booked through NFE and stayed at The Little Gate House and it was absolutely perfect. The team were always on hand to help and when we got there we were left alone to explore and explore we did! We loved our little cottage, it had everything we could ask for and more! The location was perfect, with easy access to the beach and into town. Exploring nearby towns such as Lymington and Brockenhurst by car was super easy and well worth it. We tried a few different places for food such as The Pig, The Light House & all of them were amazing. We took a ferry from Lymington to the Isle of Wight & that was the best decision as it was such a great experience, would definitely recommend the Hut for lunch and the Blue Crab for fish n chips. We also went to the Needles landmark attraction which was well worth the visit. All in all we had the best weekend & can’t wait to go back!

We recently stayed at The Little Hate House, this weekend just gone and absolutely loved it! We explored the local area and managed to go across to the Isle of Wight and our stay was just perfect with clear skies and beautiful weather. The location couldn't be further removed from my London home yet as soon as I walked through the door, I felt at home. What a beautiful space! Perfect for some end of year R&R - much needed and definitely obtained. The great british weather aside, I made it to the castle, Lymington and a forest walk or two. 2022 was welcomed in at sunrise at Boscombe beach. Worth the 30min drive. A lovely visit.... to be repeated. All the best for 2022.

This is a lovely, well located property. I really enjoyed my stay here. it's really nicely decorated and the space has been well thought out so you get to make the most of it. Sometimes I stay in an AirBnB and there may be some "nice to haves" in the kitchen that aren't available. This wasn't the case here and I had everything I needed at my disposal. If I ever stay in the area again, I'd definitely consider booking here again.
