Sitting pretty on Captains Row, one of Lymington’s most historic and admired roads, Victory Cottage is a real triumph of a find! A mere stone’s throw from Lymington’s restaurant and boutique dotted High Street and cheery cobbled Quay, our gorgeous pied-a-terre celebrates its 19th century beginnings in style…

After a busy day of explorations (land & water based adventures surround), lively Lymington life swiftly stills behind closed doors. The recently renovated cottage, is set over two floors, and with a charming garden to-boot. Here lies a truly handsome hideaway. Whilst the living and dining rooms welcome you in with open arms, the flora & fauna outside also provide a sanctuary of calm.

Wherever you take your lazy lunches & sunset suppers, you’ll be sure to find plenty of spots to curl-up into for afters (we love the sun room, but there’s also a secret den/office space as a cherry on top). With a designer kitchen that’s sure to inspire even the most novice of chefs, the bedrooms & bathroom are equally as dashing; combining the swish-ness of hotel styling, with the comfort & privacy of home.

Poised in the heart of Lymington, you’ll be able go from wine time, to winding down in a jiffy. There’s a Notting Hill nuance about Victory Cottage that offers the best of both worlds… simply open your door to dip in & out of escapades as you please!

Here's your full run down of this place, inside and out...

Inside

The fluid layout on the ground floor encourages a laid back pace of life, and there’s an understated luxury, comfort, and style to be savoured in every room. From limed oak and limestone flooring to cafe style wooden shutters, lived-in leather & luxe linens, we love how the vintage finds and modern additions weaved throughout.

Originally home to a mariner’s family; the cottage’s lovely period features still reside in-situ, now perfectly at home with contemporary renovations… We needed an extra moment to admire the Neptune galley kitchen here, with its sleek & chic Shaker design, and marble countertops (n.b. plate up feasts from the dresser of dreams for added wow-factor!).

Games, chatter, and nibbles can be taken in the living room, dining room, or the sun room… simply go with the flow & see where takes your fancy.

With skylights and natural light making the cottage feel fresh & bright, the dining room log burner & underfloor heating downstairs keeps things cosy come nightfall… draw the full-width curtains to complete total-hibernation!

Upstairs, the first floor is a sanctuary of calm & style. Bespoke carpentry & excellent craftsmanship continue to pay homage to the cottage’s 1850s bones, whilst retaining all the character of days gone by. Giving 5 star hotel vibes (the soft furnishings, headboards, and linens are seriously top-notch!), we also love how the light-filled sash windows transform to darkness in a mere swish of the heavy, black-out curtains. Give in to slumber with the gentle tinkling of masts in the background… utter perfection.

Whilst there is also a cute cloakroom on the ground floor, the roomy family bathroom up here is as well-groomed and spacious as they come! Expect polished, high-spec fittings as standard.

Outside

With brick walls creating a gorgeous suntrap, Your ‘Pimms’ garden awaits! Mirroring the organic charm seen inside Victory Cottage, the rambling fauna & flora borders really do invite you to slow down and smell the roses.

Take your breakfast, brunch or supper with a side of fresh air, enjoying alfresco meals at the garden table. It’s extra special under the stars come nightfall.

The steps up let you take stock from the bench and, from here, the nifty cabin/ office space will also reveal itself. Little ones can hang out & hide, and grown-ups can send an email… or sneak a cat nap!

Best paired with a glass of something in-hand, guests are also encouraged to take to the hose if the flowers are feeling a little thirsty too.

ParkingTwo car parks on the Town Quay and Gosport Street are only 3 minutes walk away where the parking clock provided can be used. Clock can also be used at other car parks in Lymington as well as many locations in the New Forest and on the coast.

Home truths

The living room fireplace is to be admired, but not used please. Have no fear, as the dining room’s log burner is very much ready to go if you’re looking to get cosy.

Being in the middle of Lymington good life, means you may hear the buzz of town and river living during the day at the front of the house, but this is part of the cottage’s heritage and charm.

There is no dedicated parking space. However, there are numerous car parks around Lymington, Town Quay and Gosport Street being the nearest which are only 3 minutes walk away covered by the Parking Clock, which is provided. There is also on-street parking on Grove Road or Queen Katherine’s Road, within 3 minutes walk. Loading and unloading in front of the house is acceptable, but do not leave the car unattended whilst doing so.

Accessibility

The entrance to Victory Cottage has two steps, with a handrail both sides of the steps. Once inside there is a step down into the downstairs WC, as well as steps up to access the second garden level.

Both bedrooms are located on the first floor, with fairly steep steps to get up. We recommend taking our virtual tour of Victory Cottage to get the full feel of its ins and outs.

Location, location, location...

Your Lymington townhouse is close to all of the action… just follow the call of the seagulls for a minute or two, to watch the world float by at the Quay. Grab a coffee as the little ones crab, before jumping ship onto a ‘Puffin pirate cruise' along the river.

Back on dry land, wander past a pub or two to find 'The Sea Wall' and head out to watch the birds & boats at play on The Solent. From here you can walk all the way to Keyhaven near Milford, but you'll get stunning vistas no matter where you end up!.

Lymington's bustling High Street has a fab array of boutiques, pubs & cafés, and we love scouring the stalls at the weekly Saturday market to see what treasures we can find!

Perfect for a car-free jolly, Lymington train Station is a 5 minute walk your front door, and you can hop off in Brockenhurst (or head onwards to London in under 2 hours) to get off the beaten track & ramble amongst the ponies & donkeys… plus there are plenty of watering holes to refuel for afters!

Victory Cottage was a perfect base for us to explore the New Forest. The house is lovely, and the kitchen is so well set up with everything you could want which is important to us. The house was warm and cosy and we loved the fireplace and that wood was supplied. Easy to unload the car on the street and parking was no problem.

Wendy Norwood October 2025

We had no car so Victory Cottage was perfect for our needs. Close to the station and the high street with all its shops and restaurants. It is very well equipped and very clean. The owners have thought of everything for your comfort. We will be back!

Gillian Hodgson September 2025

A stylish place to stay. The home is very well appointed with all mod cons. A great location for the best shops, harbour and walks for coast, forest and marshes. The market is brilliant, especially the pastries and bread. No parking at place but we always found a free spot nearby.

Sarah April 2025

An absolute stunning property, right in the heart of Lymington. The owners thought of everything! Total comfort in luxury throughout our six days! Grant, the owner was also a pleasure to deal with no. If only one comment, the conservatory at the rear of the property would be better fitted with a sofa rather than two chairs. It would be more cosy at night, once the kids go to bed and it’s movie night! Couldn’t recommend highly enough!

Dan February 2025

During our stay at Victory Cottage, I was impressed by its seamless blend of historic charm and modern comfort. The well-equipped kitchen and cozy living spaces made it feel like a home away from home. Its proximity to Lymington’s attractions allowed for easy exploration of the area. The hosts’ attention to detail and warm hospitality made the experience truly memorable. A perfect score of 5 out 5 all round.

Will and guests January 2025

We loved our stay at Victory Cottage. Perfect location in a gorgeous town. Delightful cottage, more than big enough and extremely well fitted out and comfortable. Photos do not do it justice. We would definitely recommend and hope to be back soon!

Helen and family December 2024

We had an amazing stay at Victory Cottage. The house itself was charming and beautifully decorated, and the courtyard garden was very peaceful. The location was ideal, just a short walk from both the centre of Lymington and the marshes. I don't think I've ever stayed at such a well-equipped AirBnB - New Forest Escapes had provided absolutely everything you might need or want for a mini break (books, board games etc!). I can't recommend it highly enough - 10/10!
