What we love...

Flexible accommodation includes three generous double bedrooms and separate garden annexe for two (sleeping eight altogether).

Quiet leafy residential area with the coast, quay and marinas in one direction and Lymington’s buzzy High Street in the other.

Light-filled conservatory-style kitchen-family room opens onto pretty lawned gardens for inside-outside eating and relaxing.

Haven House is located ‘South of the High Street’. This area is considered Lymington’s residential hot spot: leafy lanes of individual homes that are an attractive hotch potch of architectural styles. Haven House is a classic 1930s family home complete with porch, bay windows and features such as Art Deco influenced panelled doors, and picture rails.

This welcoming family house has a relaxed, happy, home from home vibe. The colour palette is calm coastal neutrals – soothing tones of river, marine, sea spray, sky, heath and marsh. Period character includes picture rails, panelled doors and bay windows filling rooms with light. The style focuses on country comfortable with deep sofas, light woods, painted dressers, old chests and interesting artwork. For relaxing and fun there are board games and shelves loaded with books for kicking back with a good read. A particular feature is the stunning open plan kitchen-family space with vaulted ceiling and patio doors opening this space to the garden, where there’s a separate studio annexe.

Inside

Haven House combines coast and country style with warmth and practicality. It starts at the tiled entrance porch (great for muddy boots). This opens onto a lovely wide hallway which runs through to the light-filled kitchen-family room overlooking the garden. This room is a feature of Haven House: a big, orangery-style, kitchen-living-breakfast room with a sunny Mediterranean vibe thanks to the vaulted ceiling, skylights, tiled flooring, oversized wicker sofas and glazed end wall. French doors open this space up to the private lawned gardens for relaxed inside-outside eating and socialising. The fresh, bright kitchen area has cream cabinetry, butler’s sink, and is really well-equipped with everything needed for rustling up tasty brunches, picnics and suppers. There’s also a round pine table that seats four - perhaps for breakfasting, casual snacks and feeding kiddies.

This room also has double doors opening the space up to the dining room with big wooden table that comfortably seats eight. This allows the creation of one big entertaining space. The dining room is stacked with books and games and opens onto the lounge – a cosy snug of a room in moody blues with deep sofas, armchair with footstool in the bay window, Smart TV and fireplace with gas fire.

Carpeted turning stairs lead up to calm bedrooms for easy slumbers. The master bedroom has a beachy New England style with Lloyd loom chair in the sunny bay window, white shutters, white painted furniture and a coastal palette. The generous fresh modern en suite includes a bath with shower over. There’s also a twin bedroom with garden views and lots of wardrobe, cupboard and drawer space. In addition, the swish ‘family bathroom’ has recently been restyled with a big walk-in shower with rainfall and handheld showerheads, glam glossy tiling, plus heated mirror and towel rail. A further turning staircase leads up to a light and airy double in the eaves where there’s a quiet study corner with desk.

Location, location, location...

Haven House makes an ideal base for adventures and fun. Town buzz, coastal breeziness, Forest jaunts and island hopping are all there for the enjoying. This leafy corner of this Georgian market town and yachtie resort couldn’t be better placed for family fun. For the Lymington good life, you are minutes from the quay, sailing clubs, marinas, watersports, boaty trips, Lymington Sea Water Baths, the sea wall and Solent Way with wide views of water and sky.

Take a salty wander to Keyhaven nature reserve; continue on to Milford on Sea’s beaches, bird and boat watching as you go. Stop off for lunch at Milford – well established as a foodie destination.

However, there’s a tasty array of pubs and eateries to potter to in Lymington. The Haven (our fave for joyous yachty views – from breakfast to evening cocktails!) happens to be your local; just follow the masts. On the High Street you will find a tempting assortment of boutiques, cafés, pubs and restaurants. Don’t miss Lymington’s popular Saturday morning market with everything from fresh bread to seafood, garden plants to sewing patterns.

The location is fantastic - just a 5–10 minute stroll into the high street, making it so easy to enjoy the shops, cafés and local atmosphere. One of the highlights was walking along the sea wall, which we’d highly recommend - such a beautiful route with incredible views. A perfect base for a relaxing New Forest escape.
