What we love...

Soaking in the hot tub as the sun goes down over the fields. There are not many better ways to end a day in the New Forest.

Ten acres of private grounds with a river at the bottom of the fields and not another soul in sight. Peaceful does not quite cover it.

Five minutes from Lymington, on the edge of the New Forest National Park. And within easy reach of some brilliant beaches, it feels like you have genuinely got away from it all.

Welcome to Stags Rest, a beautifully appointed shepherd’s hut tucked within 10 acres of private grounds in Everton, just five minutes from the gorgeous seaside town of Lymington. Sleeping up to four guests (including two children), this is an intimate and special escape with its own private hot tub, views over open fields and a real sense of being away from it all. The New Forest is right on your doorstep, the coast is even closer. Small in size but big on charm.

The outside space is where Stags Rest really comes into its own. A spacious decking area sits at its heart, home to a private hot tub and a table and chairs, making it the perfect spot for alfresco dining or a morning coffee in the fresh air. The hot tub is the star of the show, perfectly positioned to take full advantage of the views over the fields. The grounds are private and genuinely beautiful, with a river winding along the bottom of the fields and sheep grazing peacefully nearby. As the sun sets, there is nothing quite like sinking into the warm water and watching the sky change colour over the open countryside.

Home truths

There are friendly dogs living on site, one Labrador and one hound. They will not bother you, but it is good to know they are around.

Stags Rest sits within a large private estate and Little Checkers, which may be occupied by other guests during your stay. They sit at each end of the main house (where the owners live), so you will each have your own completely private space.

For security reasons, a camera is installed outside the property, covering the entrances.

Please be aware that on top bunk there is no barrier on the shorter side to prevent people falling out.

Yoga and Pilates classes are held most weeks in the main house and studio, and occasionally outside when the weather is kind. You may spot a few extra faces around the grounds on those days.

Stags Rest comes with all the bedding you need for the 3 beds. So that guests can enjoy the comfortable seating, the bed linen is left off and under the seats ready for guests to pull out. Full instructions are provided on arrival.

Location, location, location...

Everton sits quietly between Lymington and Milford on Sea, tucked into the southern edge of the New Forest with easy access to the coast and the countryside in equal measure. Lymington is just five minutes down the road, with its Saturday market, independent shops, waterfront restaurants and ferry crossing to the Isle of Wight. Milford on Sea and the coastal path are within easy reach, as is the open heathland and ancient woodland of the National Park.

The Crown in Everton and The White Hart in Pennington are both a short drive away for a good pub meal, and if you would rather eat in, local caterers The Super Brothers can deliver a meal straight to you.
