What we love...

Just a field away sits the beehives, the beating heart of The Noble Bee. You may never spot a single bee, but you will absolutely feel the magic they create.

The free-roaming peacocks, Steve, Diane, Ziggy and Basil who have made this place entirely their own. Magnificent and utterly unbothered by guests.

Oak from Northerwood House in Lyndhurst. Cedar wood panels from the farm's own chicken sheds. Simon, a local carpenter, bringing it all together with skill and care. Recycled, reused and beautifully curated.

There is nowhere quite like The Honey Hideaway. Tucked into the grounds of Furzedown Farm and The Noble Bee in Hythe, this beautifully converted horse lorry has a history as rich as the honey produced in a nearby field. Climb the ladder to your cosy double bed on the platform above, wake to the sound of birdsong (and maybe even a peacock!), and spend your days exploring the New Forest from one of its most wonderfully unexpected hideaways.

This is small-scale living done beautifully with recycled materials, local craftsmanship and an eye for detail that makes every inch feel considered. The forest is on your doorstep, and the most charming little pop-up shop selling honey, candles and handmade treasures is just steps away. Once you have stayed here, you will understand why it is impossible to forget.

Inside

Step inside, and the lorry reveals itself to be far more considered than you might expect in a compact space. There is a well-equipped kitchen with a fridge and freezer box, toaster, air fryer, electric hob and cafetiere - everything you need for lazy mornings and long evenings in. A comfortable sofa, a Smart TV, and a dining table and chairs make the living space feel genuinely cosy, and underfloor heating keeps things warm whatever the season. The rain head shower, basin, and wc are neatly tucked in and thoughtfully finished.

SLEEPING NOOK

Climb the ladder, and you will find a snug platform double bed that feels like your own private sleeping nook above the world. It is cosy, characterful and exactly the kind of sleeping arrangement that makes The Honey Hideaway feel like a proper adventure.

Home truths

The double bed is accessed via a ladder, wonderful if you love a sleeping nook, worth knowing if ladders are not your thing. Head height 85cm.

There is an air fryer but no oven, just perfect for simple, easy cooking. And if the mood takes you for something a little more indulgent, The Traveller's Rest is just across the road.

We are unable to welcome pets at The Honey Hideaway, as it is home to some rather important residents with peacocks, geese and an abundance of wildlife who roam freely and deserve their peace.

Slowness is celebrated here and it's only the traffic on the lane which moves at any speed. There is a 40mph limit there, so it's not fast but you may hear it.

Also maybe you could say on a sunny day you can hear the hum of bees peacefully coming and going from the hives in the distance.

Peacocks, and Guinea Fowl are beautiful but... can be noisy in the mornings, especially from March onwards and walk on decking.

Location, location, location...

Set on Furzedown Farm on the edge of Hythe, The Honey Hideaway sits where the New Forest begins and the everyday ends. Hythe itself sits on the western shore of Southampton Water, a charming waterfront village with good cafes, independent shops and a historic pier. But turn the other way and the New Forest is right there, green and unhurried and waiting to be explored. Cycling, walking, wildlife (and bee!) spotting - it is all on the doorstep.

What a wonderful find! A fabulous hideaway in the New Forest - it was cosy and peaceful! We loved waking up and seeing the free roaming peacocks. Highly recommend checking out The Noble Bee shop on site - the most wonderful candles and honey to buy.
