Behind the sweet & petite exterior of our 17th Century chocolate box, a very warm welcome awaits. We love the tale of two halves inside, where original features marry with modern additions to create a sanctuary of tranquility. Under the aged-beams in the front half, and the extended floor plan at the rear, there’s a neutral palette that ties everything together here beautifully…

Whilst the spacious & light-filled kitchen steals our heart by-day (the pretty paraphernalia is sure to inspire a “bake-a-thon”… with a window seat to sleep it off for afters!) come-nightfall, we can’t think of a snugger spot to sink into than the living room.

The buzzy town of Ringwood is only a five minute wander away, and offers café culture galore.. with an array of indie bars, bakeries & shops to explore whilst you’re at it! For a little more action; pack your bikes & follow the disused railway line straight to Moors Valley- it’s a firm favourite for families. When you’re running out of steam, your nearly-neighbouring pub (& its fab play area) will provide the perfect incentive for everyone to head homeward bound.

With town, coast & country adventures all there for the taking, Little Thatch’s lovely (doctor & sommelier) owners, have set up the cottage to create the perfect post-adventure remedy… so, pour something refreshing & get ready to enjoy a ‘dose’ of the New Forest good life!

Inside

We got Alice in Wonderland vibes when we first ventured past Little Thatch's handsome facade. Welcoming & cosy; there is more space than you first imagine, with plenty of spots to sit, chat and chill... we bagsy the window seat!

The crooked walls, aged-beams and original features give glimpses into our cottage's 1680 beginnings; but whilst our getaway is steeped in history (including a moonlighting stint as a WW2 doctors surgery!); your hosts have added all the modern creature comforts & stylish touches you could wish for...

As a starter for 10, the spacious & sweet kitchen is a baker's dream (watch the family follow the crumb trails!), and the snug dining room sets just the scene for a candlelit supper. For afters, head to the living room, where cat naps, Netflix & game nights are all on the agenda.

Past the downstairs loo, and up the stairs (that wallpaper is gorgeous), a trio of bedrooms await to be claimed. We love the light & airy feel of the master; surrounded by soft, slumber-inducing tones, + there's plenty of space for a cot. Next to the swish family bathroom, the double room is equally as gorgeous and well put together... but it's the super sweet, vintage-themed child's bedroom made us want to turn back time! You'll also find the laundry room up here... absolute genius!!!

Wherever you lay your hat at Little Thatch, the clever use of colour and texture links all of the old with all of the new; and the thoughtful design and finishing touches mean you are sure to feel at home... this chocolate box really is ready & raring to give you a New Forest jolly!

Outside

Built over 300 years ago, The Little Thatched Cottage is perched on a b road that now leads into Ringwood's bustling town centre; but head behind the gates to the back garden (the front door is a 'dummy' door), to begin your New Forest escape... Your entrance is waiting under a crown of wisteria!

The driveway wraps around the back of the house, with a small lawned area is just the ticket to coffee & newspaper on a sunny morning!

Helping to give privacy & security to those with small children & dogs, there's also enough off-road parking for 2-3 cars behind the gates. Guests are also welcome to store bikes along the side of the house.

** We will be adding more garden photos in due course, but please do not hesitate to ask the team for more information on the outside space in the meantime. **
ParkingThe driveway has room for 2-3 cars

Home truths

- The front two rooms have single glazing, so you may hear road noise - more so during peak times.
- The front door is a 'dummy' door! Please enter via the back entrance.
- Due to the age & quirks of being a 300 year old cottage, there are a few steps and lower ceilings throughout the ground floor.
- The doorway to the lounge from kitchen is 5 foot 2''.
- All bedrooms are located upstairs (where there are also a few more smaller steps to navigate to the laundry room & front-facing bedrooms)
- For safety reasons, there is a electric operated fire
- Bedroom 3 is a small single bed. 94cm x 187cm it can sleep an adult or child.

Accessibility

Guests enter The Little Thatched Cottage through the back door.

Due to the nature of the 600 year old building, there are low beams in places, as well as little steps adjoining rooms upstairs & downstairs.

There is a downstairs loo, but all bedrooms (and the family bathroom) are located upstairs.

Location, location, location...

The Little Thatched Cottage is perfectly positioned to enjoy town, coast & countryside adventures… Only a 5 minute walk away from Ringwood’s bustling centre, there are a fab selection of cafés, wine bars & boutiques to explore near your doorstep (we love BH24 for taking baked goodies back home, or Framptons for a scrummy brunch out).

Little ones will love Carver’s Skatepark, and there’s also a fab bike track to follow to Moors Valley (a little over 3 miles away). With plenty of other walks & tracks to explore within a 5 mile radius… after a busy day out and about, head back via the town centre to Café Velo for a cycling-themed recoup! Water lovers can hit the beach in under 20 mins (driving), or dive in at the New Forest Water Park in 10-15 mins.

Stock up on supplies in town at the indie fruit & veg stores, Waitrose, Sainsburys, or Lidl; or take a 5 min drive to the much-loved Crow Farm Shop for homegrown fayre. Wherever you spend your days, The Railway, is perfect for a pit stop with its great beer garden & play area!

Super sweet cottage!

Michael Statz April 2023

Beautiful cottage in the heart of Ringwood, and even better Moors Valley is only 3 miles away - the perfect family day out with the kids. My highlight has to be the kitchen, its truly a bakers dream!

Lauren, Social Butterly @ NFE 14/12/2022

This super, little house packs a punch on so many levels. Cosy, beautifully styled and in a fantastic location just a short walk from the popular market town of Ringwood and also very near the open forest. Loved everything about this gem.
